Like many other supporters, my awareness of the Love Hope Strength Foundation came via my love of the music of Mike Peters and The Alarm. I first saw the band at the Redcar Bowl on the Raw tour in the early 1990’s, but it wasn’t until I saw the new line-up at Middlesbrough in 2004(?) that I became aware of Mike’s solo albums. Since then I have been a regular whenever the tours hits the North East and I am looking to the Red Poppy tour next month.
I’ve been looking for a way to support LHS for a while & when the opportunity to abseil from the Teesside Transporter Bridge recently came my way, it was too good a chance to miss at 165ft, the Transporter Bridge is probably Teeside’s most famour landmark and I will be raising funds for LHS via sponsorship my abseil event will take place on Sunday, 28 October. Currently the sponsorship pledges are just over £1,500. This includes a fantastic donation of £750 from Barclays Bank where I work as Senior Business Manager in the Teesside & Wearside area – together
with generous support from numerous friends, colleagues and clients.
The top of the Teesside Transporter Bridge may not be quite as high as Everest or Kilimanjaro – but its high enough for me!
Taking the fight against cancer to new heights (165ft in my case).
