My LHS Story – Beth Owen-Booth

On Saturday October 26th I will be taking off my fake eyelashes, hair extensions and maybe even my fake bake to run my first marathon, a demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon. The Snowdonia marathon is regarded as one of the most difficult routes in the UK, a fact I blissfully ignored until I had already signed up! We all know that running a marathon requires extraordinary effort and endurance and I couldn’t help but liken it to the trials we face in life. I wanted to make sure my self-inflicted torture could somehow go a small way to help people who are suffering on their path through life.

As an Occupational Therapist working daily with people who are affected by cancer and myself having lost close family members to the disease I knew these were the people I wanted to help. I reflected on the documentary “the song that changed my life” and how touched I was by the strength and positivity that Mike and Jules displayed in the face of their affliction. I was impressed by the wonderful charity work they were involved in and decided that I would like to raise money for the Love Hope Strength Foundation.

I know that my suffering cannot change the world, but every donation, no matter how small will be used to help change the lives of those in need. Please donate whatever you can afford, generously if you are able.
